About Us

The Babcock Center, established in 1970, is a nonprofit organization based in West Columbia, South Carolina, dedicated to empowering individuals with lifelong disabilities. As the largest provider of community-based services for people with disabilities in South Carolina, the Center supports over 800 individuals annually through a wide range of person-centered programs. These include residential services, vocational training, employment support, and life skills development, all designed to foster independence and community integration.

Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Babcock Center runs seven vocational training centers across Richland and Lexington Counties and manages more than 65 residential homes. Its mission is rooted in the belief that a disability should never limit a person’s access to opportunity, dignity, or community involvement. The organization advocates for equal rights and works closely with families, caregivers, employers, and local agencies to create inclusive environments.

The Center reinvests in its services and staff to ensure high-quality care and support. Its leadership, including President and CEO Thoyd Warren, emphasizes transparency, community engagement, and continuous improvement.
